Eowyn's Name

This was a project I made while in school.
I came up with the idea after getting frustrated with not finding matching letter blocks to spell out eowyn's name in the store at one time.... i figured that this would be more special, telling all her friends that came over that mommey made it for her while she was in school.

It's made of alumium, so it's really light. it's 10 inches long by 3 inches tall & .8 inches thick. I designed the part, then toolpathed it, then set up the CNC machine & then watched the machine cut it. I needed to make a fixture for it because of the letters having the possibility of chattering ( wobbling). I used MasterCAM to design & program this. I drew it in 3d using a solid blob. It was cut on Nov. 18, 2005. It took a total of just 6 hours to cut EVERYTHING - the fixture & both sides of the piece!
